Thankful: Day 1

Saturday morning, Foxy still had the cold that she had the previous two days.  Colds are de rigueur when dealing with children, so I really wasn’t worried about her.  Until she started wheezing, that is.

Whenever I was near her, her breathing sounded fine, but when I left the room to shower or do my hair she started making this loud wheezing sound.  The only way to describe it was that it sounded like a donkey:  hee haw hee haw.

I called her pediatrician but I had just missed their after hours.  I asked where they referred patients on weekends and they directed me to Kids Time Pediatrics.  The location nearest me didn’t open until 1pm, so we headed there around 2pm.

Thankfully, Foxy still just has a cold.  The doctor on call listened to her lungs and said they sounded great.  She looked in her ears and throat and said everything sounded great.  She said that odd noise was most likely caused by inflammation in her throat.

I am so thankful that there are places like Kids Time that are open during evenings and weekends.  They help put moms and dads like me at ease when we don’t want to wait until Monday morning and don’t feel our child’s sickness warrants a visit to the emergency room.

And the best part about the visit was I only had to pay a $15 office visit copay!

What are you thankful for today?

I’m thankful that I cooked a couple meals over the weekend so I don’t have to cook until maybe Wednesday! Oh and my supervisor is on vacay today. That might sound mean but I get more work done when I know she’s not “in the office.”
