Transition Tuesdays

It’s been just over a month since I did the big chop.  I can tell  you without hesitation that I have not regretted it for one minute.  It is the best decision I have made in a long time.  I am so in love with the ease of getting ready.  I am so in love with not having any hot hair on my neck.  I am so in love with playing with my curls!

Sometimes I see women with long hair and I feel a little sorry for them.  I want to run up to them and tell them to let go of all that hair and cut it off.  Mind you, I don’t think there is anything wrong with long hair, weaves, wigs, etc. But I want every woman to know the freedom of a TWA.  Walking outside and it starts to rain?  Shake it off and keep it moving.  Want to go swimming in the morning but have a date in the afternoon?  Wash and go!

Okay, okay.  I realize I may be a little overly enthusiatic about the whole short hair thing.  It’s just that for years I was a slave to my flat iron. I spent 45 minutes in the mirror every single morning getting it right.  And that doesn’t include time spent washing and drying my hair.  I truly don’t miss it at all.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not planning on having short hair forever.  As a matter of fact, I have already noticed a lot of growth in the past 4 weeks.  I can already pull my hair into a little ponytail.  I couldn’t do that a month ago. I credit the complete lack of heat and the nourishing products from Original Moxie.

I’m about 8 weeks away from my birthday.  I am eager to see what kind of growth I have by then.  As much as I love having short hair, I really want to see what kind of versatility I’ll have when I have a little length.

Oh! I almost forgot.  If you are interested in purchasing anything from Original Moxie, you can use coupon code ‘BABS’ to save 15% off your order.  My very own coupon code.  How cool is that!

I’m so jealous of your curls! I want to chop just so I can see what my natural hair is like. Hubs isn’t ready so I’m going to do it gradually. Like get an inch or two cut when I go get my ends trimmed this weekend.

I have never for a minute regretted starting my Locs! Natural hair( especially your twa) is so easy! I can’t even imagine it taking 30-45 min to get ready because of my HAIR! and giving up half my day for the salon!

When I big chopped, the ability to be carefree about my hair and the ease were easily my favorite benefits. Right behind those was the fact that I thought I looked very good with short hair! I think I expected to “suffer” through the TWA phase but I actually enjoyed it (and felt cute to boot).

You look great; I’m glad you’re enjoying your natural hair so far!

Hey, Everyone. Babs, your ‘fro is so cute! This weekend was my first time wearing my afro. I went to Memphis for my Regional Conference (tons of fun). While I’m still getting use to my overall “look” with my new afro, I must say that I LOOOOVE my hair in its natural state. Watching you test your new products (I ordered an Original Moxie product last week, BTW) on your hair then seeing how cute your lil’ ‘fro was when you did the big chop gave me the kick in the butt I needed to not be a chicken! Thanks, and you look beautiful!

Looks good! Glad you are so happy with your natural hair! If I were to buy only one Original Moxie product, which do you recommend?
PS – The black girl on the home page is a friend of mine! I get a kick of seeing her every time you post a link.

  6. LOL. No need to feel sorry for the long haired women. That’s why I get the relaxer: I don’t run from rain, pools or anything. And don’t forget the power of the ponytail! I’ve had short hair before, it was cool but too much work. Long hair is simply easier for some.

Glad you are loving your decision.
